I write science fiction and fantasy about systems — and the people trapped inside them, and the choices that set them free.

Sometimes the system is time itself, and a physicist gets fifty years of foreknowledge to spend on a second chance (Another Past). Sometimes it's a compulsion sealed into a woman's soul, and the question is whether anything she feels is hers (Technomancer). Sometimes it's an alien overlay that measured all of humanity in six stats and then, rudely, declined to end the world (the Integration Era). Different worlds, one obsession: the science holds up, the magic follows rules, and the people are as stubborn as the ones you know.

I've traveled the world, lived on three continents, served in the Navy, been an engineer, a programmer, a farmer and a product manager. All of my varied experiences make their way into my tales. When I'm not writing, I'm reading or getting outdoors, usually with a camera in hand. Hiking in the mountains or diving in the sea resets my soul.
