FAQ

Where should I start?

▶

It depends what you like.

Hard SF with a slow burn: Another Past. Fantasy with a technology twist: Technomancer. Space opera with a system laid over the top: The Integration Era.

Still not sure? Read The Witch's Brew. It's free, about 47 minutes, and you'll know whether we get along.

What order do I read Another Past in?

▶

Book One, Book Two, Book Three. Each one opens a door for new readers, but Paul's story builds book to book, so start at One.

Is the Another Past trilogy finished?

▶

Yes. All 3 books are out.

Where can I buy your books? Are they in Kindle Unlimited?

▶

All 4 novels (Another Past 1 to 3 and Technomancer) are on Amazon and in Kindle Unlimited. Paperbacks are on Amazon. Technomancer and Another Past: Book One also come in hardcover on Amazon and in paperback from Quill & Courier.

Prior Integration, Book 0 of the Integration Era, sells here direct: $2.99, instant download. Patrons pay $0.99.

Every book has a free sample on its store page.

When is Technomancer Book 2 coming out?

▶

The Awakened Mage is in edits. There's no release date yet. Subscribe and you'll hear the day there is one. ARC sign-ups will open in late 2026.

Do your books have content notes?

▶

Technomancer is dark science fantasy for adults. Elara's story begins with captivity and a sexual assault, which drives her arc. The book also includes coercive magic, human trafficking as a plot element, and violence. The full note is on the Technomancer store page.

How spicy is Another Past?

▶

Another Past is for adults only and contains R-Rated content. Aspects of human sexuality are handled in the book without explicit detail.

What's free?

▶

More than you'd think.

  • No account, no email: every short story and serial. Right now that's The Witch's Brew, Acceptable Losses, and the serial Recipe for Disaster. The Studio writing tools are free too.
  • Your email: the ebook and audio versions of The Witch's Brew and Acceptable Losses, plus Book Battles every month and its back catalog.
  • A free account: story discussions, saved reading progress, and the Writing Resources library (about 30 documents).
  • Patron, $5 a month: early access to new stories, audiobook versions, patron-only posts, behind-the-scenes updates, and merch discounts. Details.

What's the difference between subscribing and joining?

▶

Subscribing gets you email: Book Battles once a month and release news. That's the whole list.

Joining makes a free account. There's no password. I email you a sign-in link.

You can do either, both, or neither. Unsubscribe any time.

Are there audiobooks?

▶

The 2 short stories come with audio when you sign up. Patrons get audio versions of new stories.

Are the novels coming out as audiobooks?

▶

If there is sales traction, an audio version is possible. There are no specific plans to offer an audiobook version.

What's Book Battles?

▶

Every month I put 2 books in a ring and see which one's still standing. Classic SF against new releases. Dresden against Murderbot. It goes out as a newsletter, and the back issues are here.

Can I be a beta reader?

▶

I open a round when a book is ready for one, and I post it here and on the newsletter. You don't need to have read my other books.

I found a typo. Where do I send it?

▶

The Feedback form. Pick "Typo Report," and if you can, tell me the story and chapter. It comes straight to me.

How do I reach you?

▶

Email charlie@charlieforet.com.
